Dining Room

The Before Picture! (That is my table but other than that it is the old light fixture, carpet and wall paper)

So the wall paper started to come down! My two best friends from college though it was fun to peel off the first layer! We made it a game to see who could get the biggest piece off. I just appreciated the help!

Once that top layer was off I got to more of the paper part. Around 4-6 layers on most walls. I didn't mind the scrapping of the paper but it was the washing of all the glue once the paper was gone that was the hardest.
One of the lovely layers.

Installing my new thermostat. The old one was really low on the wall so I ran a new line to the furnace unit and raised it up about a foot and a half. Also installed a new unit that is lit so when it is dark I can see the temperature without having to turn on the light. Very handy. Still haven't figured out how to program it for certain days but I don't know if I really ever will since my schedule changed so much for when I am home. Usually just turn it up when I am home and back down when I leave.
A picture after walls were stripped of wall paper, washed down of the glue, repaired of any imperfections, sanded down by hand and painted. Whew that was a lot of work!! Also I removed the carpet!! LOVE the hardwood floors and they were in great shape!! Just need to buy some quarter round to do around the base and I will be done. Some day I may want to refinish the hardwood floors but for now they are in great shape. A little aging around the edge of a darker boarder showing that at one time they must have had a large area rug in the room.

The built in corner cabinet. Still need to paint the inside of this but for now the wall paper inside the cabinet stayed. I do have it decorated for Halloween in this picture with my owl perched on top and spider on the glass. I also love when I pulled up the carpet it reveled that they installed this unit after the room had been carpeted. It still has old olive green shag carpet underneath of it! Glad that was not still in the house when I bought it!!

Corner wine cabinet and mirror.
Finished room!! Still a few things to finish and the curtains are not back up because I spray painted the old rod to match the light fixture finish but I am very happy with it done! Living room won't get done till next spring but I am optimistic that it will turn out just as good!!

Spring at 12th Street

View of the front of my house early Spring. Lots to still do to clean up the yard from the past years where it has been let go a little bit but I will get there eventually. Next on my list is to trim the bushes on the sides of the front sidewalk to the house. WAY over grown!
Magnolia tree on the side of the house! So beautiful and smells SOOO good!! (although it leaves a HUGE mess in the yard!)
View looking up at my magnolia tree! Sooo pretty!!
Dragonfly mom got me last year! will look really pretty once that burning bush blooms!
Daffodil around the base of my rose bush by the garage.
Emma looking down at me from her new favorite place... the third bedroom upstrairs! She will spend hours up there if I let her. Up to no good I am sure but she sure does love it up there!

Early Signs of Spring at 12th Street!

The first glimpse of spring flowers appearing in my yard!! (I think they are daffodils)

Master Bedroom Renovation

North wall
East Wall with the entryway door and the master bedroom closet door
West Wall, Window looks out onto four seasons room. (Some wallpaper removed from this wall)
South Wall
Emma supervising the progress in the master bedroom. She always stays pretty close to wherever I am in the house.

House Progress...

Hard to see but there are some paint samples I taped to the wall to help decide which one I will paint the living and dining room. (undecided still on which one..)
Emma loves looking out the window!!
New living room ceiling fan and light!! LOVE IT!! (Also installed a remote so I didn't have to walk all the way into the entry to turn on the light.)
New Bathroom lights and electrical outlets and towel bar. A huge improvement from the old lights because the outlets were integrated on the side of the light fixture. (Not very functional for a woman who blow dryes and straightens her hair every day!) The pink walls will be changing soon enough but need to install a vent fan in the exterior wall before then to take care of the ventilation problem that has damaged some of the walls.

Let the wallpaper come DOWN!!

Before picture... Minus a little piece that I ripped off before I took the picture and realized I hadn't taken a before picture. Wallpaper was very neutral but still needed to come down!
Here it comes!! Only to reveal a worse wallpaper underneath!
This project may take awhile but the steamer I borrowed from my friend is a lifesaver!!
Through the 4 layers of wallpaper I found the wall!!
Archway between the dining room and the hallway.
Only a little bit left in the hallway to take down.
Progress! Walls still need to be washed but they are in great condition!

Curb Stop Project!

Let the digging BEGIN!!
Yard has been marked and they will begin digging up the old curb stop on January 9th.

Future Master Bed Linen Preview....

Here is all the bed linens that I have been collecting... Although it is on the wrong bed and in the wrong room I am very excited to "Someday" sleep on this bed! All greys, white and glass with just a splash of teal for fun! LOVE IT and the master has moved up on the renovation list!

Renovation List is as follows...
- Paint Master bedroom closet (installed new shelving to accommodate all those things women need in a closet!)
- Bathroom renovation (walls need repaired, painted, new floor laid and new shelves hung)
- Hallway (can see the hallway from almost every room in the house so want to start there since I will have just finished the bathroom... will just slowly snake my way through my house) I think my hallway will also be the only room in the house that i paint a bold color....Think it will be fun!
- Master bedroom (wall paper needs to be removed, walls painted, and ceiling painted. I already installed new blinds)
-Dining room- wall paper removal, walls and ceiling need painted. New chandelier already up! so just need to finish with the walls!
- Living room- more wall paper removal, walls and ceiling painted, need new fan still as well.

I am sure much more will come onto the list but this will keep me busy probably for the next year I am sure!!

Emma's favorite hobby while I am not home... Push all of her bows and toys into the hallway cleaning closet and wait patiently for me to come home to get them out! There was 13 she had pushed under this day!
Cooking on Christmas in mom's new kitchen! I didn't get too many pictures but we had a great Christmas at Mom's new house. I know Mom and I will NEVER forget Christmas night that year as I put a load of laundry in and we were watching TV after everyone else went to bed and heard the washer backing up into the utility sink in the laundry room. It made a HUGE mess and went into the basement and garage!! Guess that just makes me a little glad that my washer dryer are in an unfished basement!! Next morning rotor rooter came and after 2 and a half hours the problem was fixed! WHAT A MESS THOUGH!!
