So the wall paper started to come down! My two best friends from college though it was fun to peel off the first layer! We made it a game to see who could get the biggest piece off. I just appreciated the help!
Once that top layer was off I got to more of the paper part. Around 4-6 layers on most walls. I didn't mind the scrapping of the paper but it was the washing of all the glue once the paper was gone that was the hardest.
Installing my new thermostat. The old one was really low on the wall so I ran a new line to the furnace unit and raised it up about a foot and a half. Also installed a new unit that is lit so when it is dark I can see the temperature without having to turn on the light. Very handy. Still haven't figured out how to program it for certain days but I don't know if I really ever will since my schedule changed so much for when I am home. Usually just turn it up when I am home and back down when I leave.
A picture after walls were stripped of wall paper, washed down of the glue, repaired of any imperfections, sanded down by hand and painted. Whew that was a lot of work!! Also I removed the carpet!! LOVE the hardwood floors and they were in great shape!! Just need to buy some quarter round to do around the base and I will be done. Some day I may want to refinish the hardwood floors but for now they are in great shape. A little aging around the edge of a darker boarder showing that at one time they must have had a large area rug in the room. The built in corner cabinet. Still need to paint the inside of this but for now the wall paper inside the cabinet stayed. I do have it decorated for Halloween in this picture with my owl perched on top and spider on the glass. I also love when I pulled up the carpet it reveled that they installed this unit after the room had been carpeted. It still has old olive green shag carpet underneath of it! Glad that was not still in the house when I bought it!!
Corner wine cabinet and mirror.
Finished room!! Still a few things to finish and the curtains are not back up because I spray painted the old rod to match the light fixture finish but I am very happy with it done! Living room won't get done till next spring but I am optimistic that it will turn out just as good!!
